"indigo:
the arts and literary journal"
4th Annual Reception: April 14th, 2005
Temple Gallery
Quincy College celebrated its 4th annual indigo event and
reception on Thursday, April 14th, showcasing the art
and literature of several of the College's students.
A crowd of over eighty people gathered to celebrate
the amazing talents of our students while enjoying
hors d'oeuvres provided by Craig's Cafe in Quincy and
fine pastries provided by the Quincy Center for Technical
Education. Music was also provided thanks to
Quincy College student Marenglen Skendo.
Throughout the Fall 2004 and early Spring 2005 semesters, open submissions for
indigo were collected by the marketing office at Quincy College. Signs were posted
at both campuses plus instructors from arts and humanities courses were notified
to inform students of this annual initiative. Once the call for submissions ended
in February, the works were categorized and authors and artists names were removed
from each submission. Members of the indigo selection committee convened and
the works were distributed for review. After several discussions and debates,
the final selections were presented for publication. The artists and authors
were congratulated on their accomplishment and the 2005 edition of indigo:
the
arts and literary journal was produced.
Along with honored students, family and friends, Quincy College faculty and staff,
members of the College's Board of Governors, Daniel Raymondi and Joanne Condon
Walsh were also in attendance to help support the arts at Quincy College. Vice
President Thomas De Santes greeted the crowd and shared his thoughts about the
process the students had to undergo in order to be published. He also thanked
President
Sean Barry for his continued support of indigo. Governor Daniel Raymondi also
addressed the guests, commending the efforts and talents of the students that
were being honored.
Upon entry to the indigo reception, guests received the 2005 indigo book, which
this year is a 4x11 book that contains photos and biographical information of
each student along
with the student's works that can be used as postcards.
Guests also received indigo posters, depicting one of the selected photographs,
when they left the reception.
