Quincy College’s Adult Advantage Program and its “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship makes returning to school accessible and attainable for students ages 30 and older.

Inspired by our #1 Ranking as the Best College for Adult Learners, Quincy College has inaugurated this program as a way to give the gift of education to even more adult learners.

Adult Learner LiaisonRe-entry into higher education presents many questions. Quincy College’s dedicated adult learner liaisons provide personalized assistance to adult learners. Our all-inclusive student services such as free tutoring and financial aid assist students every step of the way. Adult learner liaisons are in every student facing office including Academic Advising, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Accounts.

We appreciate the importance of higher education to our adult students – many of whom juggle significant parenting and work responsibilities along with their studies so that they can secure even more promising futures for themselves and their families.

Quincy College is uniquely positioned to offer these resources customized for the adult learner.

Adult Advantage Program 30 years of Age or Older

30 or older? Get your first class free.

New, first-time Quincy College students, aged 30 and older (by January 1, 2018) who are U.S. Citizens or permanent residents of the United States residing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (proof of address required) are eligible for the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship which provides them with free tuition and no fees for their first eligible Quincy College class. This program provides students the opportunity to sample their first QC course at no risk and little to no cost. Complete the First Class Scholarship Application now

Free First Class Treatment

New, first-time Quincy College students who are eligible for the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship will receive:

  • Free tuition and no fees for their first General Education or Business courses at Quincy College.
  • Personalized Assistance from dedicated adult learner liaisons in every student facing office to address the unique needs of the adult learner and assist them in their return to the classroom.
  • Access to student services including free tutoring services, student success coaches, and veteran specific support.

Qualified students receiving the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship are responsible for textbooks and supplies. Students can continue on and apply as a full-time or part-time student and pursue a degree or certificate at Quincy College. All tuition and fees are the responsibility of the student beyond the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship. Students may apply for Financial Aid.

(The Scholarship will be offered for the Spring 2018 semester until we reach capacity.) The “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship is applicable ONLY for General Education or Business courses at Quincy College, offered online and on both the Quincy and Plymouth Campuses. The Spring 2018 eligible General Education and Business course offerings list will be available soon. We can get you where you need to be, whether you’re looking to earn a degree, take a single class, continue your education or change your career. Overall, Quincy College offers courses during traditional 15-week and intensive abbreviated FLEX semesters (5-Week, 7-Week, and 10-Week). Courses are offered during days, evenings, and weekends. Who is eligible for the Adult Advantage Program?

Any person who is age 30 and older is eligible for the Adult Advantage Program.  Quincy College’s dedicated advisors provide personalized assistance to adult learners to make returning to college accessible and attainable. Included in the Adult Advantage Program are adult learner liaisons in every student facing office at Quincy College including Academic Advising, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Accounts to address the unique needs of an adult student as well as access to Quincy College’s all-inclusive student services including free tutoring services, student success coaches, and veteran specific support.  Quincy College is uniquely positioned to offer these resources customized for the adult learner.

Who is eligible for the "Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners" scholarship?

This scholarship provides the gift of education to students who meet the following requirements:

  • New, First-Time Student at Quincy College
  • 30 years old or older (by January 1, 2017)
  • A U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident of the United States residing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (proof of address required)

A student meeting this criteria is eligible for “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship which covers the cost of tuition and fees for their first General Education or Business course, offered online and on both the Quincy and Plymouth Campuses.

Is it really free?

If you are a new, first-time Quincy College student, aged 30 and older (by January 1, 2017) and a U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident of the United States residing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (proof of address required), then you are eligible for the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship which will provide you with FREE TUITION and NO FEES for their first General Education or Business class at Quincy College. The scholarship will be offered for the Spring 2017 semester until we reach capacity.

Qualified students receiving the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship are responsible for textbooks and supplies.

Returning Adult students can take advantage of customized student focused services as part of Adult Advantage Program.

Can I take more than one class for free?

No. Only the first class is free for eligible students. However you can take more than one class at a time. All tuition and fees are the responsibility of the student beyond the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship. Students may apply for Financial Aid. Only new, first-time Quincy College students, aged 30 and older (by January 1, 2017) who are U.S. Citizens or permanent residents of the United States residing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (proof of address required) are eligible for the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship applied to their first course and can continue on and apply as a full-time or part-time student and pursue a degree or certificate at Quincy College. The scholarship will be offered for the Spring 2017 semester until we reach capacity.

I took classes at another college can I still participate?

Yes. We welcome transfer students, or those who have credits or degrees from other institutions. As long as you are new to Quincy College, age 30 and older (by January 1, 2017), and a U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident of the United States residing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (proof of address required) you are eligible for the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship. The scholarship will be offered for the Spring 2017 semester until we reach capacity.

What does new, first-time student mean?

It means you have never taken a class at Quincy College before.

The Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship is open to all new first-time Quincy College Students.

I am a new student, does this apply to me?

Yes. If you are aged 30 and older (by January 1, 2017), a U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident of the United States residing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (proof of address required) and a new student to Quincy College, you can apply for the Quincy College Adult Advantage Program and the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” Scholarship. The scholarship will be offered for the Spring 2017 semester until we reach capacity.

I’ve already taken classes at Quincy College can I receive the scholarship?

If you have taken classes at Quincy College you are not eligible for the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship. However, any person who is age 30 and older is eligible for the Adult Advantage Program.  Quincy College’s dedicated advisors provide personalized assistance to adult learners to make returning to college accessible and attainable. Included in the Adult Advantage Program are adult learner liaisons in every student facing office at Quincy College including Academic Advising, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Accounts to address the unique needs of an adult student as well as access to Quincy College’s all-inclusive student services including free tutoring services, student success coaches, and veteran specific support.  Quincy College is uniquely positioned to offer these resources customized for the adult learner.

Can I apply for financial aid?

Yes. All students are encouraged to apply for financial aid, even if they are receiving the scholarship. Financial Aid can help pay for school supplies and additional courses, which are not covered under the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship.

Under the Adult Advantage Program, new, first-time Quincy College adult learners can utilize the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners” scholarship applied to their first course and can continue on and apply as a full-time or part-time student and pursue a degree or certificate at Quincy College.

I am interested in a selective program, can I still take advantage of this offer?

When participating in the “Free First Class Treatment for Adult Learners”, you simply need to register for the General Education or Business course of your choice.  Selective programs like Nursing and Engineering Technology are not available as part of this program.
