What is Cell & Gene therapy?
This is a new and promising area of medicine with full potential to treat and cure inherited illnesses such as motor neuron disease and rare disorders for which traditional medicine provides no treatment. Cell Therapy is a process by which some whole cells are transferred to patients in order to treat inherited or acquired diseases. Gene therapy is defined as a process of introducing a gene into living cells to repair, mute, or restore a missing function.

Who should attend the training?
These training courses are designed for researchers, laboratory technicians, manufacturing technicians, and Chemistry and Biology students. Prior knowledge of cell culture and aseptic techniques is highly desirable.
Objectives of the Course
- Learn the concept of cell/gene therapy
- Describe the different modes of cell/ gene delivery
- List the predominant viral and non- vectors used in cell/gene therapy
- Identify the risks and challenges involved in cell/gene therapy
- Identify the ethical considerations in cell/gene therapy
