Strength can reveal itself in remarkable ways. For Tiana Moore, it meant standing at the podium during commencement as Quincy College’s student speaker after overcoming challenges that once made a college degree feel out of reach.

A recent Quincy College graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Tiana’s journey to graduation was defined by perseverance, resilience and an unwavering determination to create a better future for herself and her son.

As the middle child of eight children, Tiana learned early on the importance of independence and hard work. However, her road to graduation was far from easy. As a single mother and survivor of domestic violence, she faced significant personal and financial hardships while trying to build a stable life.

“Despite multiple moves, financial struggles and the emotional toil of navigating those challenges largely on her own, Tiana remained committed to earning her degree. Along the way, she found encouragement from Quincy College faculty who believed in her potential – especially Professor Carol DiFalco whose guidance helped inspire her to keep pursuing her goals.

“Quincy College gave me more than an education,” she says. “It gave me support, encouragement and people who truly believed I could succeed, even during moments when I doubted myself.

Tiana plans to pursue a master’s degree in psychology and hopes to become a domestic violence advocate or therapist, helping others feel safe, supported and empowered.

Through scholarship support and the encouragement she received at Quincy College, Tiana was able to continue moving toward the future she envisioned – not only for herself but for her son and for the many people she hopes to help along the way.
