Bellotti to Recieve Gavin ‘Man of the Year’ Award

QUINCY — Quincy College President Michael Bellotti will be named Man of the Year by Gavin Foundation at the Creative Office Pavilion Road to Recovery Gala 2019 on Thursday, May 9, 2019, 6:00–9:00 pm held at the The Innovation and Design Building, One Design Center Place, Boston.

President Bellotti will be honored as the Gavin Foundation Man of the Year for his ongoing commitment to comprehensive and impactful substance abuse community programs. President Bellotti has served the public for nearly 30 years, most recently as the Sheriff of Norfolk County. His community programs have been hailed by educators, parents, and law enforcement for their positive impact on South Shore communities. As Norfolk County Sheriff, Bellotti supported the Speakers for Hope, The HOPE (Heroin, Opioid, Prevention and Education) program and in collaboration with Quincy Drug Court, residential recovery services for men re-entering the community.

Past Gavin Foundation Award Winners include Commonwealth of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker (2017) and Jeff Werner, New England Carpenters Fund (2018).

As President of Quincy College, President Bellotti fosters community connection, both on campus and off campus. A guest speaker at the Quincy College Substance Use Disorder Forum in 2018, President Bellotti continues to support lifelong learning and community access to educational opportunities including pre-licensing and licensing education for social workers and substance abuse counselors, via the Quincy College Substance Use Disorder Certificate Program.

The Gavin Foundation’s Road to Recovery Benefit Gala is an annual fundraising gala for the Gavin Foundation. The Gavin Foundation is a nonprofit agency providing comprehensive adult, youth and community substance abuse education, and prevention and treatment programs. Established in South Boston in 1963, they serve over 5,000 individuals each year from Massachusetts and beyond.

The evening includes a silent and live auction, delicious food stations, and two special 2019 honorees.

Brian Hannon will also be recognized at the Road to Recovery Benefit Gala. Mr. Hannon will be presented with the Caring Hearts Award for his enthusiastic support and dedication to the recovery community.
