Quincy College heead basketball coach Doug Scott has been named as Hoop-Dirt.com’s Junior College Coack of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions.
Hoop Dirt’s weekly award honors coaches at each levle of college basketball and with the win, Scott now qualifies for HoopDirt.com’s National Coach of the Year award. This week, Scott shared the honor with Mike Hopkins – University of Washington (NCAA Di), Josh Schertz – Lincoln Memorial University (TN) (NCAA DII), Todd McGuiness – Case Western Reserve Unversity (OH) (NCAA DIII), and Craig Doty-Graceland University (IA) (NATA).
The #2 ranked Granite, led by Coach Scott, won two more games this week to improve to 19-1 (19-0 Region XXI) on the season. Quincy defeated Bunker Hill Community College 84-69 on Tuesday before taking down defending regional champion MassBay Community College 104-93 on Saturday. After losing their first game of the season, the first-year program has won 19 straight.
The Granite also feature NJCAA DIII leading scorer Deven Palmer. The freshman is currently averaging 32.3 ppg, and exploded for 43 vs. MassBay on Saturday.
Scott’s crew will go for their 20th consecutive win on the road against Bristol Community College on Tuesday.
