QUINCY — Quincy College will celebrate the Class of 2019 Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program Graduates at a Pinning Ceremony today (Thursday).

The Class of 2019 Physical Therapist Assistant Graduates include: Elyse Bergamini of Quincy, Roberto Cadet of Randolph, Helsom Dias of Plymouth, Amanda Lucey of Hanover, Jessica Lynn of Plymouth, Brittany Reid of Hingham, Laurie Vernazzaro of Kingston, Taylor Zigouras of Wareham.

Gerald Koocher, Ph.D, ABPP, Quincy College Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Program Director Christine Rodday, DPT will deliver greetings and present awards. Pins will be presented to the graduating students by program faculty. Elyse Bergamini will provide student reflections to fellow classmates to conclude the ceremony.

During the Pinning Ceremony, Quincy College will recognize two students for academic excellence and clinical excellence as well as recognize a clinical partners awarding the Outstanding Clinical Teaching Award.

PTA graduates work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA program is a combination of foundation education courses, technical education courses, and clinical experiences. Students complete three clinical affiliations during the program, and this allows them a chance to network and frequently creates job leads post-graduation. PTAs are employed by hospitals, outpatient facilities, and rehabilitation facilities to name a few and can work in areas specializing in a wide range of topics including geriatrics, pediatrics, neurology, and orthopedics.

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program is a 2 year, 5 semester Associate Degree program. The 900 square foot PTA lab located at Quincy College at Plymouth is fully equipped with modern equipment and full of technology that is at the forefront of PTA training. This includes, but is not limited to, providing the students technology for completing electronic documentation and SMART Board outfitted classrooms for instruction.
PTA Program Graduates are invited to walk in the Quincy College Commencement Exercises to be held at the South Shore Music Circus on May 24th.
