New Articulation Agreements for five vocational programs

Officials from both Quincy College and South Shore Vocational Technical High School recently signed an Articulation Agreement that allows SSVT students to receive credit for selected introductory courses in certain associate degree programs.

“Quincy College recognizes that SSVT offers rigorous vocational technical courses of study,” said Superintendent-Director Thomas Hickey. “Now our graduates in electrical, electronics, graphic communications, allied health and computer information technology can attend Quincy College and receive credit for courses such as Electrical Fundamentals, Computer Graphic Applications, Digital Electronic Circuits, Medical Terminology and Operating Systems because they got a solid technical and academic foundation at SSVT.”

In order for students to take advantage of this Articulation Agreement, they must enroll within one year of graduation and have earned an average grade of 80 percent in their vocational major.

“Quincy College has forged strong ties with career and technical high schools throughout the region. We are delighted to partner with South Shore in providing a focused pathway to higher education for its graduates,” said Dr. Michael Marrapodi, Dean of Online Learning and Inter- Institutional Affairs.

“This is a demanding standard for students to reach, but I’m confident they can do it, and it will provide a springboard toward post-secondary success and placement in the workforce,” Hickey said.

South Shore Vocational Technical High School is in Hanover and serves more than 600 students in grades nine through 12 from the towns of Abington, Cohasset, Hanover, Hanson, Norwell, Rockland, Scituate and Whitman. There are 14 career majors for students. Visit http://www.ssvotech.org or http://www.quincycollege.edu for more information.
