Quincy College Granite Men’s Soccer started their 2018-2019 season with a great effort against an unbeaten Holyoke Community College as part of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 21 play on Saturday, September 8th at Holyoke.
Holyoke carried the play during the first half, taking a 1-0 lead halfway through the first half but Quincy College Granite, led by strong goaltending by #1 Nate Getman came alive and tied the score 1-1 with Freshman, #14 Lorkins Exhumat of Dorchester scoring with the assist going to fellow Freshman, #7 Zedrick Moreira of Quincy.
Quincy College Granite dominated play throughout the second half but Holyoke capitalized on an errant pass to take a 2 – 1 lead and held off Granite’s efforts.
Despite a 2-1 loss to Holyoke Community College, Quincy College Men’s Soccer Head Coach Idris Senyonjo was pleased with the efforts of his young team as they played hard against one of the best teams in NJCAA Region 21 soccer. Supporting Quincy College Granite this season, Quincy College Athletics are pleased to welcome Quincy College Granite assistant coach James Douvas as coaching staff this season.
Quincy College Granite is led this season by veterans soccer players: Quincy College seniors, #2 Hamza Mohamednur of Cambridge, #10 Thiago Carvalho of Dorchester, #11 Herbie Milien of Dorchester, and Quincy College sophomore, #15 Hugo Ramos of Quincy who’s play has been outstanding in leading the younger players early in the season.
Quincy College Granite have a busy week the second week into their 2018-2019 season, travelling to rival Massasoit Community College on Wednesday September 12th at 4:00pm and will open their home season on Saturday September 15th in a rematch with Holyoke Community College, kick off at 1:00pm at Creedon Field in North Quincy.
Quincy College Granite games are open to the public and are free of charge.
