Sometimes, in the classroom, Monica Pickett thinks to herself: I can’t believe I’m doing this.

But she is. And she’s prouder of herself every day.

Monica is studying for her Associate’s degree in Human Services and aspires to be a social worker or therapist. She credits Quincy College for giving her – a stay-at-home mom in her 40s with three kids – the support and confidence to pursue her dream of helping others.

“At first, I didn’t think I was smart enough. Now I know I can do it,” Monica says. “The professors probably don’t appreciate the impact they’ve had on my life. There are such positive vibes here. Just coming to school has made me more successful.”

Taking classes as a full-time student after many years away hasn’t been easy, but Monica is quick to focus on the positive.

“It’s changed my life. This is just a beginning for me and I know I can go even further thanks to Quincy College.”
