I. Purpose
This policy provides guidelines for students who choose to audit courses at Quincy College, enabling participation in courses without earning academic credit.

This policy applies to all students at Quincy College, subject to the specific exceptions outlined below.
III. Policy Details
A. Eligibility and Exceptions
- General Eligibility: Students may audit courses to acquire knowledge without the pressure of exams or grades, except in courses listed as exceptions.
- Exceptions:
- Nursing Courses: Auditing is not permitted in any Nursing program courses.
- Science Labs: Laboratory components of science courses are excluded from auditing.
- Education Courses: Courses requiring pre-practicum observations or student teaching cannot be audited.
- Natural Science Courses: Auditing requires prior approval from the division Dean.
B. Registration and Tuition
- Registration Process:
- Students must register for courses as audits during the initial registration process. This should be indicated in the MyQC portal by selecting the audit option for the desired course.
- Tuition Fees:
- Tuition for auditing a course is set at half the standard rate for a credit course, reflecting the non-credit engagement in the course activities.
C. Modification of Enrollment Status
- Changes from credit to audit status must be completed before the course withdrawal deadline. Such changes are facilitated through the MyQC portal under the "Add/Drop" section.
- Refunds: No refunds will be issued for changes from credit to audit status after the commencement of the course.
IV. Responsibilities
- Students are responsible for understanding the implications of auditing a course, including the lack of academic credit and the potential impact on financial aid and full-time status.
- Instructors may be asked to provide access to course materials and participation in class activities, excluding graded assignments and exams.
- The Registrar’s Office manages the registration changes and ensures compliance with this policy.
V. Review and Amendments
This policy is subject to periodic review and possible amendments to ensure it meets the educational and administrative needs of Quincy College.
