Quincy College Granite Men’s basketball team is looking to capitalize on their successful inaugural 2017-2018 season which saw an impressive nineteen game win streak, starting the 2018-2019 basketball season the week of October 29th.

In their opening game on Thursday, November 1st, Quincy College Granite defeated Eastern Nazarene College’s Junior Varsity team by a score of 83 to 74. Quincy College Granite was led by Freshman #1 Walter Dew Hollis of Dorchester with 34 points as the Freshman showed why he was one of the top recruits to come out of Dorchester. Joining Hollis in the offensive effort was Quincy’s own #34 Ugo Kamalo returning to the court with 16 points as a Sophomore and #10 Freshman Darrius Hyppolite from Bridgewater with 15 points.

On Sunday November 4th, Quincy College Granite traveled to New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) in Concord, New Hampshire. NHTI is considered one of the top teams in their conference and the Quincy coaches knew it would be a battle. The Granite fought toe to toe with a balanced scoring attack of #1 Dew-Hollis who racked 15pts, #10 Hyppollite with 12 points, #34 Kamalu with 13 points and Quincy College Granite Captain #4 Jonathan DeVeiga scoring 12 points. Despite this impressive offensive effort, Quincy College Granite lost to NHTI by a score of 101-88.

Quincy College Granite in their sophomore year of competitive play mixed in numerous players for this game and coach Doug Scott feels the depth of this year’s team could be a solid plus for his team. Quincy College Granite begins their National Junior College Athletic Association Region 21 schedule Tuesday, November 6th versus former NJCAA Division 2 Community College of Rhode Island and then go on an extended road series of games that will test the Quincy College Granite squad early in the season.
